Frequently asked questions.

The things people ask on the phone, written down.

Physical therapy sessions typically involve an assessment of your condition, manual techniques to improve mobility and flexibility, individualized exercises and activities to help you reach your goals, education on how to prevent further injury or pain, and instruction on proper posture, body mechanics and other lifestyle changes.

Direct Access allows you to start physical therapy without a physician’s referral, providing immediate care and potentially speeding up your recovery. This approach can be cost-effective by saving on initial doctor’s visits and offers the convenience of scheduling sessions at your own pace. Most insurance plans, including Medicare, cover Direct Access, but it’s wise to confirm with your provider. Physical therapists can treat various conditions such as back pain, sports injuries, and chronic pain, ensuring you receive personalized care tailored to your needs.

Physical therapy is a medical, hands-on approach to relieving pain and restoring function. Physical therapists are medical experts in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and work closely with physicians.

Our physical therapists evaluate your movement patterns, identify the cause of your pain, and work to eliminate it. While every patient’s condition and pain is unique, we use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels. The overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring.

Working with you and your doctor, we can discuss your options and help determine if physical therapy is the right choice for you. Call us today at (864) 263-7390 to discuss your current condition, or request an appointment now.

Physical therapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain. However, as you restore your mobility, pain levels at times can fluctuate, and you might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering.

This is a normal response to treatment. Good communication with your therapist will help minimize any discomfort. If you feel too much pain during a session, tell your therapist so they can adjust the intensity or technique right away.

Physical therapists have years of university-level training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology (the study of joint movement), neurology, and many of the other medical sciences. Our physical therapists graduated from accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy programs and are state licensed. Rest assured, your therapist is well trained to evaluate and treat your condition.

Dress in comfortable, loose clothing that lets you move easily and gives your therapist easy access to the problem area. Supportive sneakers are a good choice.

For your first visit, bring:

  • Your insurance card, if you have one (we’ll make a copy).
  • A prescription from your referring physician, ARNP, or PA, if your plan requires one.
  • Any imaging or reports you already have, such as x-rays, ultrasounds, and doctor’s notes.
  • In case of an automobile accident or worker’s compensation claim, any case manager or insurance adjuster contact names, phone numbers, and claim number.

Arrive a few minutes early to complete any remaining paperwork, so you can make the most of your evaluation.

Yes! Arrive well-rested so you can give the session your full attention and energy. It also helps to keep track of how much pain medication (if any) you take before the appointment so your physical therapist can adjust the intensity of treatment accordingly.

Your first session lasts about an hour. Follow-up sessions are one-on-one with your physical therapist, and your therapist will tell you what to expect based on your specific needs.

The frequency of visits depends on your individual goals and condition. Each patient’s diagnosis is different, so your therapist will develop a plan of care that is right for you, and your plan of care and number of visits will be explained to you during your first visit.

Every person’s situation is unique, so the amount of time needed to reach your goals varies. With commitment from both you and your physical therapist, you can expect to start seeing results within a few weeks. The more positive lifestyle changes you make, the faster your progress will be!

Yes! Your physical therapist may provide specific exercises to do between visits, which will help speed up your recovery and progress toward your goals. Follow them carefully, and always check with your PT before starting a new exercise program if you have any questions or concerns.

Your physical therapist is available to discuss any questions or concerns about your condition or treatment plan before and after each visit. You can also contact the clinic directly at (864) 263-7390. We want you to get the most out of every session!

We’re in-network with Tricare, Medicare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, and we offer out-of-network billing assistance for other plans. We verify your benefits before your first visit so you know your copay, deductible status, and visit limits up front. See insurance & coverage for details.

We accept cash, check, debit card, and credit card, and we’re happy to discuss payment plan options. Many patients also use FSA or HSA dollars.

Scheduling is easy, and we offer morning and evening appointment times to fit your busy schedule. Call our office at (864) 263-7390 or request an appointment with one of our physical therapists today!

Put it in writing.

Five short questions. A real person calls you back, usually within two business hours, with times that fit your week.

The people who end up filling this out are rarely in the worst pain of their life. They’re just done working around it, done picking the errand that doesn’t require the stairs. If that’s the stage you’re at, this is the part where you stop researching and start.
